Guthertz: McCain should apologize

Guam - Senator Judi Guthertz who serves as the chairperson of the Guam Buildup Committee - has fired off a letter to U.S. Senator John McCain asking that he apologize to the people of Guam for his hurtful remarks on the senate floor recently. As we reported his statements and position on the military buildup were much different than in 2008 when he was running for president. McCain back then said he supported the buildup adding that it would translate to an improved quality of life for everyone here and in the region. On the senate floor recently, he ridiculed funding for the buildup particularly a provision related to funding for cultural repository, a project required as per the 2010 Programmatic Agreement signed between the Department of Defense and GovGuam.
