Guam - A family of 12 is without a home this evening after their residence caught fire in Chalan Pago. Guam fire department spokesperson Lt. Phil Camacho says the emergency call came in around 7:10pm. He says engines 9 and 3 as well as Rescue 1 and 2 responded to the scene along Santa Cruz Street, and confirmed a structure fire. The fire was confined to a single room on the first floor of the two-story home. Camacho says fire fighters had the blaze under control by 7:32pm. Ordot-Chalan Pago mayor Jessy Gogue and Red Cross personnel were also at the site of the fire assisting the family, as the home suffered severe smoke damage and was deemed to be unliveable. Red Cross offers food, clothing, and a temporary place to stay for displaced families. No injuries were reported, and GFD is investigating the cause of the fire.
