GPD seeks DOI financial assistance

Guam – A request for financial assistance to the Guam Police department was made to the U.S. Department of the Interior today. Public safety oversight chair senator Adolpho Palacios wrote to Assistant secretary for the office of insular affairs Tony Babauta to help find funds for GPD to develop a new property and evidence management facility. Palacios is working with Chief of police Fred Bordallo to research the need for the facility, and expressed how places like the U.S. Virgin Islands were able to benefit from the assistance of the US DOI. He write GPD needs to acquire a modern facility capable of handling evidence and other materials deemed sensitive to criminal investigations.
