Taijeron concerned about possible violation
Guam - Senator Mana Silva Taijeron is concerned about a provision in the Calvo Administration's Revenue Enhancement and Cost Containment Plan given to lawmakers during recent special sessions. Specifically the section related to military leave and how requests for voluntary deployment and redeployment will be evaluated on a case by case basis and subject to the approval of agency heads.
"This to me just looking at it here seems that it would be in violation with some USERRA policies that are in place," the freshman senator explained. "And the USERRA contains a bill of rights that provides protection to our military members."
Senator Taijeron has written Adelup requesting further clarification. Guam National Guard Adjutant General Benny Paulino comments saying Senator Taijeron's are well founded, adding there is no differentiation between voluntary and involuntary deployment.
