Guam - Guam's law enforcement group along with leaders from the island communities of Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei and Yap are working together to prevent incidents like the triple-homicide that took place two weeks ago in Harmon. A meeting was held recently to discuss what happened and what needs to be done going forward.
"What happened several weeks ago it sparked something in them and they're taking the initiative to come back and confront the issues facing them," said Guam attorney general Leonardo Rapadas. He stated that some of the problems that were identified in the recent meeting include a lack of education, prejudices and stereotypes, lack of after-school care, and communication barriers, as well as a breakdown in the family structure and alcohol abuse.
Additional meetings will be held in the future.
