Judge Bordallo grants GWA Motion to Stay
An order from the Public Utilities Commission to force the Guam Waterworks Authority to reimburse $20 million to the government of Guam's General Fund is on hold.
Guam - An order from the Public Utilities Commission to force the Guam Waterworks Authority to reimburse $20 million to the government of Guam's General Fund is on hold. This after Superior Court Judge Michael Bordallo granted the Guam Waterworks Authority's request to stay the Public Utilities Commission's attempts to force the reimbursement which was based on Sen. Ben Pangelinan's PL 30-145. The order halts PUC actions until Judge Bordallo hears the merits of the case. "We believe the stay suggests the Judge sees merit in GWA's case and has agreed that PUC should take no further actions until he hears the full merits of the case" said Simon Sanchez Chairman of the Commission on Consolidated Utility Services (CCU). "We will look forward to all parties continuing to discussing the issue going forward and resolving it in the best interest of the people of Guam", concluded Sanchez.
