Guam - A groundbreaking ceremony will take place tomorrow morning beginning a trend of many road and bridge construction projects in store for Guam. DPW director Carl Dominguez says Route 7-a on East O'brien Drive in Hagatna between the Agana Shopping Center and Hagatna Pool closes off two lanes of travel where you can only drive westbound.
He says although the continued road projects may be frustrating for drivers, the end result will help alleviate congestion and an expected population increase for the future. He said, "Hopefully shortly after the project is done, the public will enjoy the new roads, new sidewalks, the drainage will improve and the traffic flow will improve and as the population is growing and the number of cars increasing in the roads, it will make a difference."
The project started a week ago and costs five million dollars by federal funding. The project is expected totals nine months and should be completed just before the start of the Hagatna Bridge Construction Project. The groundbreaking ceremony is set for tomorrow at 10 in the morning at the Hagatna Pool.
