Taijeron wants OT secured for GFD, DepCor

Guam - Guam Police and Department of Corrections officers should have been paid overtime for prior fiscal years, that's according to Senator Mana Silva Taijeron who says in June Public Law 31-74 was passed appropriating $1.6 million in overtime for DepCor and more than $330,000 for GPD. Taijeron questioned the Department of Administration, as DepCor only got $300,000 of what's owed, and GPD has not yet received a dime.
"It's an obligation that needs to be met, and so its unconscionable to ask these officers to work everyday and have to wait for their pay, in DOC's case they've been waiting for over a year and as I know in some GPD officers cases some of them have been waiting since April or May of this year for their overtime," she said.
Meantime, DOA director Benita Manglona tells KUAM News the funds will come from the autonomous agencies and solid waste billings. However, she admits the money had not yet been secured.
