Guam - The University of Guam has been awarded a $900,000 grant from the Department of the Interior's Office of Insular Affairs to help support efforts to implement alternative, renewable and energy efficiency initiatives. UOG expects to use the funds to   launch a campaign to aggressively reduce their total monthly energy consumption by 2-5%.

Through UOG's Center for Island Sustainability, the institution anticipates the installation of wind turbines and rooftop solar arrays to meet their energy efficiency goals and achieve significant cost-savings.
