PRESS RELEASE - Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today invited President Barack Obama to visit Guam during his scheduled trip to the Asia-Pacific region later this year.  The President is scheduled to take part in events connected to the 60th anniversary of the security treaty between the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, which will be held in November.  He is also expected to attend APEC meetings in Honolulu, Hawaii.

"Today, I asked President Obama to include Guam in his travel plans during his visit to the Asia-Pacific region in November," said Congresswoman Bordallo. "The President was scheduled the visit Guam twice last year, but national issues required him to postpone both his visits to the region and remain in Washington.  I am hopeful that the President's schedule can accommodate a visit to Guam in order to discuss matters of importance to our island including our strategic importance and impact of the military build-up on our community."
