Guam - Several students from the University of Guam are planning to hold a protest against plans for a tuition increase. A public hearing on the increase is scheduled for this afternoon at 2 o'clock. The University is proposing the following adjustments:
- For residents, the rates will increase 10% in Spring Semester 2012 and will increase another 5% in both Academic Years 2012-13 and 2013-14.
- For non-residents, the rates will decrease in Spring Semester 2012 and then increase 5% in each of the next two academic years.
According to UOG's website revenue generated from the tuition increase will benefit academic quality and support student learning. The public hearing is scheduled for this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Anthony A. Leon Guerrero Multipurpose Room #129, Jesus and Eugenia Leon Guerrero School of Business and Public Administration Building. The protest is scheduled for 1:30pm.
