Guam - Adelup is holding to its plans to downsizing the government. Governor's chief of staff Frank Arriola says starting early next week, they'll be announcing reorganization plans, which include the consolidation of various departments within GovGuam.

Arriola says the reorganization and consolidation will be done in phases, with the first being consolidating the land agencies of Department of Land Management, the Chamorro Land Trust Commission and the Guam Ancestral Lands Commission. He says the impact on the workforce will not be as drastic as originally thought. "We feel confident we're going to streamline the government, make it more efficient and minimize the number of layoffs that might occur as a result of this reorganization," he explained.

The administration will then consolidate the cultural and economic agencies next. Arriola adds that streamlining in the government will alleviate the cash flow and help pay tax refunds.

To help employees who may be impacted by the layoffs, the Administration has created a special displacement and reengineering program administered by the Agency for Human Resources Development.
