Guam - Several of the island's hotel housekeepers joined the governor and lt. governor at Adelup this morning for a proclamation signing declaring Housekeepers Week and Day. Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association president Mary Torre says there are several thousand housekeepers currently employed on Guam to service Guam's tourism industry.

"This is a national celebration but here on Guam we spend about a week within each of the hotels recognizing the industry and the people who work in it with different activities throughout the hotel," she said.

Housekeepers will also celebrate the event this Saturday at the PIC in Tumon.
