Guam - It's been months since the return of the Pope John Paul II Statue to Hagatna, but the statue has yet to work in full operation. According to Monsignor James Benavente, the statue was sent for restoration in Thailand to celebrate the pope's beatification.
However, due to delays with historic preservation, power isn't available at the site keeping the statue from making its full revolution every 12 hours. The statue is historically significant to the Catholic community because in 1981 the pope celebrated mass at that very site in Hagatna.
