Guam - The Department of Public Health has received 124 reports of suspect pertussis cases - but of that number 46 were laboratory confirmed while 37 have been ruled out. Whooping cough is a highly contagious bacterial disease that can be spread by direct contact with discharge from the nose and throat of infected individuals.
Residents are encouraged to protect their infants and young children by minimizing exposure to those who have cold symptoms and ensure their kids receive the DTAP Vaccine.
