Guam - Efforts are underway to prepare for any major disaster that may hit Guam as the Federal Emergency Management Agency along with Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense continued its Mass Care Emergency Care Workshop at the Guam Community College. FEMA Region IX Deputy Director for Pacific Area Office Marilyn Shigetani says the workshop involves subject matter experts and covers feeding, sheltering, donations and volunteer management.

She told KUAM News, "It's a week workshop and the intent is to develop a mass care emergency care task for the Government of Guam and that encompasses all the agencies, non-profit, private sector so that you have a whole community planning effort."

Shigetani adds that Guam hasn't had a disaster in a few years and but its bound to happen. The workshop will work on revising past disaster plans including the Guam catastrophic plan Friday.
