Guam - The Guam Memorial Hospital formally requested a temporary waiver of the survey findings from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services May visit that noted numerous deficiencies in patient confidentiality and life safety violations to expired medicines and supplies.

In its response, the hospital management indicated that all of the deficiencies will be completed by the end of the year and they're hopeful CMS will grant the temporary waiver to allow the agency time to secure contractors to complete the major projects to bring the facility in to compliance.

CMS has threatened to pull the hospital from the Medicare program because of the concerns noted from its visit.
