Guthertz writes national legislators
Guam - Senator Judi Guthertz has sent letters to the president of the Heritage Foundation, Dr. Edwin Feulner, and a congressman from Louisiana. A 2007 letter from the organization was referenced and added to the congressional record by Congressman Jeff Landry during last week's hearing on the Guam World War II Loyalty Recognition Act.
The Heritage Foundation claimed the U.S. has no blame or responsibility for what happened to Guam during the Japanese occupation. Guthertz described those statements as "an affront to a well established and documented history of both Guam and other populations who suffered for no other offense than getting in the way of a global war."
Senator Guthertz also wrote a letter to Congressman Landry, giving him a mini-lesson on Guam's history and encouraged him to visit the territory.
