PUC to discuss LEAC, payment & lawsuit
by Mindy Aguon
Guam - The Public Utilities Commission has a full agenda for its meeting next Monday night. Among the items up for discussion, the Guam Power Authority's petition to increase the Levelized Energy Adjustment Clause beginning August 1. An 18% increase was approved last month which equates to a $30 increase to average water bills.
GPA is also seeking the Commission's review and approval of a proposed $2.5 million settlement with the Department of Administration for the payment in lieu of taxes mandate. The administrative law judge is also expected to give his report whether rates would need to be raised if GWA complies with Public Law 30-145 and remits $20 million to the General Fund. It's an issue currently under litigation.
The PUC is scheduled to meet next Monday night.
