DOE applauded for Fire Watch compliance

Guam - Nearly a dozen public schools averted closure after implementing the Fire Watch program. The education suruhanu sent concerns to the Attorney General's Office that the Guam Fire Department noted at least eleven schools were non-compliant with the Fire Watch requirements.
A letter from Attorney General Leonardo Rapadas to the education superintendent and board chairman expressing his appreciation with the schools making an effort to comply with fire watch after recent re-inspections. The program was imposed on 37 DOE schools that currently do not have operable fire alarm systems.
DOE continues to seek procurement and installation of the new fire alarms using $2 million in federal stimulus funding.
