Guam - The Department of Public Works is hoping to repair its fleet of school buses in time for the coming school year.  DPW Director Joanne Brown says 20 buses are undergoing repairs with engines being remanufactured by private contractors.

Unfortunately, the agency has hit another snag as 7 buses need Caterpillar engines that are no longer being manufactured. "So the department is checking with its vendors to find out if they can find existing engines that are out there or rebuilt engines that we can acquire," said Brown. "Because we certainly wouldn't want to lose the operational capabilities of 7 buses in the department - that's a high price tag item of what it would take to even replace 7 buses."
