Guam - There is only two weeks remaining for those interested in applying for the Department of Education superintendent position. The opening follows the announcement from Dr. Nerissa Underwood that she will be stepping down at the end of her contract on July 22.

Guam Education Board Chairman Francis Santos confirms the board has not received any applications at this time.

The application deadline was extended 45 days from the original May 16 deadline, as the board wants to maximize the opportunity for candidates to apply. While the board has zero applicants, Santos says that does not mean individuals have not picked up application packets for the job.

The deadline to submit the application is June 30 at 5pm.
