Guam - District Court Chief Judge Frances Tydingco Gatewood wants more information about neighboring dumps that surround the Ordot Dump. In a special report from the receiver, the court ordered the Guam Environmental Protection Agency to investigate dump sites within a three mile radius of the Ordot Dump to identify potential other sources of leachate and groundwater contamination.

The receiver took specific concern with a large dump site located near the Lujan Auto Junk Yard that appears to have been in operation for several years. GEPA must determine if the dump sites comply with local laws and regulation, exactly who is responsible for the sites, and how the dumps may complicate mitigation assessments to close the Ordot Dump.

The judge noted that despite this new development, the Ordot Dump will still be required to stop accepting new waste at that time.
