Guam - The federal government is going after more than $20,000 in cash that they believe to be proceeds of the distribution and importation of crystal methamphetamine. A complaint was filed in the District Court today seeking the forfeiture of the cash that was found by customs officers in Hawaii back in January.

Court documents indicate Mateo Sardoma and his girlfriend, Maria Edrosa, were found in possession of the currency and narcotics dogs alerted to the presence of a controlled substance on the cash. Authorities were alerted to the two following last July's bust of Joven Banayat and Rommel Whiting, who brought in nearly 60 grams of the drug Ice hidden in the handle of a broom from the Philippines.

The two men detailed their drug trafficking scheme with Sardoma to authorities.
