Power restored to parts of the island
by Nick Delgado
Guam - Power was restored for several villages. Guam Power authority spokesperson Art Perez says crews were able to identify that a down static line within the Cabras switchyard caused the islandwide blackout that happened around 3:30pm. He says the down line caused the switchyard to isolate, which in turn took the breakers in Cabras 1, 2, 3, and 4 offline.
Perez says the problem also resulted in a loss amount of load being distributed to the island, which contributed to causing the major outage. He says recovery efforts are ongoing and could not say when full restoration will be complete.
Perez says so far power GPA has been able to energize parts of Dededo, Liguan Terrace, Pagat, Route 15, Yigo, Barrigada and the Guam Memorial Hospital.
