Guam - The Port Authority of Guam broke ground today on a $2 million project to begin renovations to the Hagatna Marina. The improvements are being conducted in three phases - Phase I consists of 461 linear feet of the removal and installation of new bollards, new galvanized pipe railings, new epoxy steel coated ladders, sheet piles, and new walkways.

Phases II and III, planned for the near future, will consist of similar renovations to the remaining areas of the marina. Since its original construction in 1977 by the Army Corps of Engineers, the facility has not had any major renovations or upgrades.

Funding for the renovation is from a Department of the Interior grant.
