Guam - The Guam Fire Department is optimistic that it will have its ambulance billing system in place sometime this month. GFD Spokesperson Captain Andy Arceo says the billing proposal is currently being reviewed by the Attorney General's Office.

GFD for years has been trying to get the billing system in place so that it can collect funding to go towards operations and unit repairs. Arceo adds the fire department has tabled discussions to double the ambulance fees at this time, at least until the system is up and running.

There are currently only seven operational medics for the entire island.
