Guam - Redemptoris Mater Missionary Seminary's Vice Rector Father Julio Cesar Sanchez spoke before the Rotary Club this afternoon on the now more than one decade of service the Yona seminary has been providing on island. He says their mission is to prepare young men in the community for the Catholic priesthood lifestyle.

He also says the development of the seminary in Yona was inspired by the late Pope John Paul II. "The first Redemptoris Mater Seminary was formed in the diesis of Rome and after a few years in 1999 Archbishop Anthony Apuron said this is a good idea for Guam and so he adopted the idea and the seminary was formed so in fact John Paul II is key to our seminary," he explained.

Millions reportedly flooded Tome yesterday to witness the beatification of the pope. According to the chancery office, Archbishop Anthony Apuron also attended the event.
