Guam - A 48-year-old man is behind bars after he got into an accident along Route 1 in Dededo early Sunday morning and allegedly left his car at the scene. GPD spokesperson Officer A.J. Balajadia says Edward Harper allegedly fled the accident scene by the intersection of Wusstig Road on foot.

Harper was later located by police and brought back to the scene, where authorities discovered his plates did not match the white Chevrolet Lumina he was driving. Balajadia says Harper's license plates were actually confiscated by police because the tags were expired. While police were taking Harper into custody they also recovered a glass pipe he allegedly had in his hand.

He faces charges of DUI, illegal possession of a controlled substance, fraudulent use of a license plate, and leaving the scene of an accident.
