May set aside for island's senior citizens

Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo this morning signed a proclamation declaring May as Guam Senior Citizens Month. Department of Public Health, Division of Senior Citizens Program Coordinator Charlene San Nicolas says they will be holding an array of events throughout the month to recognize the island's man'amko.
"The importance is that we embrace our seniors who have given a lot for us to be here, they've done a lot for the island in terms of improving and introducing services and it's only fair and right that we continue every May to honor these individuals," he said.
One of the first events is the public hearing on Guam's four-year State Plan on Aging, which will be held at the University Castle Mall in Mangilao from 9am to 12pm and from 6pm to 9pm.
