Guam - US senators Jim Webb and Carl Levin will be meeting with senators of the 31st Guam Legislature on Monday evening. And during that meeting, Speaker Judi Won Pat says funding for the military buildup will be one of the key issues she will bring to the table.

Won Pat tells KUAM News she'd like to hear from Webb and Levin on whether they feel Japan will still commit to the $6 billion it pledged for the Marines relocation in spite of the disaster in the country. She's also concerned about the cuts to the defense budget and what it will mean for the buildup. Won Pat said, "My worry is that they have cut the defense budget not to the degree where its going to negatively impact them but my concern is the community who will be impacted because whatever they've authorize and appropriated inside of the base, I'm sure will continue to move forward.

"My concern is what's going to happen outside the base because we can't happen inside the base all this construction taking place and then nothing is happening in the community we can't allow that to happen."

Won Pat says they are scheduled to meet with the senators on Monday at 6pm in the Legislature's Public Hearing Room.
