Bomb cleared from Yona construction site

Contractors at the site discovered the 124-lb. Type 97, No. 6 land bomb. Benito says the entire bridge was blocked off to traffic for both north and southbound lanes for about two hours.

Guam - A Japanese bomb was found near the Ylig Bridge construction site in Yona this afternoon. Guam Homeland Security Spokesperson Alyssa Benito says contractors at the site discovered the 124-lb. Type 97, No. 6 land bomb. Benito says the entire bridge was blocked off to traffic for both north and southbound lanes for about two hours. 

She adds the Navy's Explosive Ordnance Team, Guam Police and Guam Fire were on scene to secure the bomb.

The all-clear was given at 2:15 this afternoon.
