Okkodo team wins national hospitality event
Guam - Four students from the Guam Community College's CTE Lodging Management Program at Okkodo High School made Guam proud by winning the 8th Annual American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute National Lodging Management Program Competition. Raquel Maminta, Donna Lubas, Iris Lapid, and Jessica De Vera competed against 11 high school teams from Arkansas, the Bahamas, and Hawaii, among others.
The competition challenges students with real-world hotel industry job scenarios. The ladies from Okkodo stood out in all three sections of competition: hotel operations, hospitality, and knowledge bowl. Winning the national championship means they now have access to college scholarships provided by leading hospitality management schools.
LMP is a national educational program for high school juniors and seniors.
