Guam - Healthcare Committee chairman Senator Dennis Rodriguez, Jr. says he was alarmed when briefed on the financial state of the Guam Memorial Hospital and how things got to this point. Rodriguez has been having regular discussions with the new hospital management that has uncovered concerns about past practices that have resulted in significant costs for GMH.

He told KUAM News, "Instead of looking back I think what they're doing is the right thing. I support what they're doing, which is looking at ways at how we can make it more efficient and to look at the finances and see where the cracks are and I think that's what they're doing."

The hospital management is currently reviewing a number of physician contracts, to name a few, that they believe is resulting in the hospital losing out on hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.
