Guam - Pearl Turner spoke before Rotarians today sharing her inspiring story of how she went from poverty to owning her own restaurant. Turner is the woman behind the popular Maite eatery Cajun Delight. From Louisiana, Turner talked about how she overcame challenges of poverty and abuse, and how she found solace in helping troubled youth, something she plans to continue here on Guam.
She said, "My restaurant employees are all high schoolers and three college students. My dream is that the restaurant will evolve to the point where we can form a scholarship fund. I have a non-profit fund where it's called Seed of Love that was obtained when I was homeless and I really believe that spoke to my heart and let nothing steal your seed of love."
If you've ever had the chance to meet Turner, she is a wonderful, caring and compassionate woman. Cajun Delight is located in at Days Inn.
