Gerry Perez steps down at GVB

Guam - There's a new interim general manager at the Guam Visitors Bureau. Former first lady and deputy general Joanne Camacho temporarily moves up to the position after Gerry Perez turned in his resignation. But he's not going too far, as Perez was immediately brought back on as a consultant under contract.
Perez told KUAM News, "I'm stepping aside to accommodate the governor's wish to have a new general manager...I think it's an opportunity for the new board to pick the GM of their choosing." Camacho added, "I believe his passion and leadership has been outstanding, when a leader leaves an area, he has left a good foundation here at the Bureau."
While Camacho says she is considering applying for the job, GVB board chairperson Monte Mesa says they must get the full board in place and begin the process of looking for qualified individuals. "We're trying to keep some continuity and that's why its great Gerry offered to stay on in a different capacity as a consultant to make sure that all our initiatives and to include the five-year strategic plan is completed, so that we can move forward in this direction that parallel the governor's blueprint for progress," she said.
