Beaches reopened after coastal assessment
Guam - The Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense in conjunction with the Guam Police Department and the Guam Fire Department had completed the assessment of coastal areas throughout the island. The mandatory closure of beaches had been lifted Saturday morning.
The closure was issued last night as a result of the Tsunami Warning following the 8.9 earthquake near Honshu, Japan. There have been no reports of damage at this time, but residents are urged to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures around coastal areas.
