Guam - Concerns from residents who live near the Department of Corrections in Mangilao have prompted Senator Tina Muna Barnes to fire off a letter to director Jose San Agustin requesting the status of their sirens. Nearby residents are complaining that DOC does not notify them when there is an escape.
In the past, according to Barnes, sirens would ring notifying the nearby community. Currently, the only notice they get is when they see corrections officers on ATVs in their backyards.
Senator Barnes wants a status of what happened to those sirens as well as the director's recommendations to resolve concerns from nearby residents.
