Guam - $200,000 is being tapped from the Department of Public Works Highway Safety bond to repair Guam Police vehicles. Acting Governor Ray Tenorio today approved a memorandum of understanding that provides the funds for the overdue repairs.

Tenorio states this funding will provide the police department the resources needed to serve and protect the community, "Given the recent traffic events, this money comes at a most critical time. Police vehicles that have been waiting in shops or stations can be repaired and put back on the roads where they should be." The money will pay for various repairs for 15 police vehicles and four motorcycles.

Chief of police Fred Bordallo states, "Despite financial constraints, we appreciate the Governor and Lieutenant Governor for giving us support and working with the Legislature to assist us in funding. Now we can get our officers out patrolling our community and highways."

The funding is in addition to the $200,000 recently provided to the Guam Fire department for ambulance repairs.
