Guam - An internal affairs investigation has been launched after a police officer assigned to Government House accidentally discharged his firearm this morning. Acting Police Chief Fred Bordallo says the incident took place at around 10am Sunday.

He says the officer was transported to the Guam Memorial Hospital after he accidentally shot himself in the hand. Bordallo couldn't comment any further on the case, only saying they're looking into it. He did say a formal police report was made.

No injuries were noted as a result of the incident.
