Guam - The Gift of Life organization sponsored an appreciation luncheon today at The Hyatt Regency in Tumon for platelet donors at the Guam Memorial Hospital and U.S. Naval Hospital. Guam Memorial Hospital lab assistant administrator Glenda Pangelinan says it's an opportunity to thank the donors for their time and dedication to the cause.

She told KUAM News, "It's their annual event in terms of saying 'thank you' to the folks who really don't get much attention but are really important to both hospitals. So they've been kind enough to host a donor appreciation luncheon today."

The luncheon also recognized the donors of the year. Kristina Grant is the Donor of the Year for Naval Hospital and Lyle Cummings is the Donor of the Year for GMH. The Gift of Life has been around for about 15 years now.
