Guam - Senator Aline Yamashita wants the military to implement noise mitigation measures to reduce the impact of military aircraft activities. The freshman lawmaker introduced Resolution 24, which requests Joint Region Marianas to ensure these procedures are in place.

The issue was pointed out in the environmental impact statement. The resolution states that residents near Kadena Air Force Base in Japan were awarded $57 million in 2009 after taking legal action that their health suffered from the noise. The recommendation is that the military adopts visual flight rules as well as implement a program for noise abatement.
