Guam - A local attorney has been suspended from practicing law, accused of accepting money from clients and then neglecting their cases. Supreme Court justices signed a judgment against Attorney Stephanie Flores, suspending the lawyer for an indefinite period of time but not less than two years with all but 60 days suspended.

Flores was also placed on a probationary period for not less than three years before she can seek full reinstatement to the practice of law through a petition to the Supreme Court of Guam's rules for the discipline of attorneys.

Six ethics complaints were filed against Flores where individuals had paid her money to represent them in various cases. Each said that despite repeated attempts to communicate with her and despite claims that she had been making filings in their cases, Flores had neglected them.

She was found to have committed misconduct by violating the Guam Rules of professional conduct dealing with competence, diligence, communication, fees, misconduct, candor toward the tribunal and more.

She was ordered to make full and prompt restitution of more than $10,000 within 90 days. She must serve not less than three years probation before she can seek full reinstatement from the Guam Supreme Court.
