Consular Corp meets with Governor Calvo
Guam - The Consular Corps of Guam met with Governor Eddie Calvo today. The group promised to work with the governor in helping improve the lives of Guamanians. The group includes members of the consuls general of Palau, the FSM, Korea and the Philippines, the director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, the honorary consul of France, the New Zealand and the CNMI liaison officer.
Governor Calvo and the group discussed issues affecting the region such as tourism and the governors upcoming visit to Washington, DC. Calvo vowed to present concerns of the group to the Department of Defense or the State Department.
According to the Governor's Office, prior to the current administration the Consular Corp of Guam had little communication with the Governor's Office and the organization is pleased with Calvo's commitment to attend at least two of formal functions to be held by the group, the first of which is scheduled 60 days after the governor returns from the nation's capitol.
