GIAA's concerns include Tiyan parkway
by Mindy Aguon
Guam - The changing landscape of Tiyan was identified as one of the biggest concerns for the Guam International Airport Authority that is currently undergoing major runway expansion and planning more commercial development. Of major concern to the transition team was the need for an agreed solution to the Laderan Tiyan Parkway.
The current access road in Tiyan connecting Route 8 and Route 10a must be closed in April 2012. The report states that the new parkway, which is proposed to run out to Route 8 by Cars Plus in Maite, must be agreed upon, funded and launched by this summer in order to meet next year's deadline.
Specifically, they recommend that the governor, the Guam Legislature, the Department of Public Works, GIAA and the government resolve land ownership and right of way issues and funding in the next six months.
