Guam - The Moylan's ODC Braves and AK Islanders met up in the season opener of this year's Budweiser Baseball League at the Paseo Stadium. The Braves held the Islanders scoreless on their first trip to the plate behind some good defense and pitching by JP Aguon.
Last year's champs got some runners on base after base hits by TJ and Alan Sarmiento. A walk by BJ Balajadia loaded the bases up with Rico Castro at the plate. Castro rips a shot to left that cleared the bases, good for the 3-run double. Castro finished the game 2-2 with 2 doubles and 4 RBIs.
The Braves started the next inning with good defense again, Rico Castro fields the grounder and tosses it to Aguon for the out at first. AK managed to score a run on their next trip to the plate when Pat Alvarez hit a single to bring in John San Nicolas. That was the only run scored for the Islanders, as they fell to the Braves 7-1.
JP Aguon earned the win on the mound with 2 strikeouts. TJ Sarmiento went 3-4 at the plate with 2 runs and an RBI. Tonight's game is between the Paradise Fitness Jr. Nationals and Bank of Guam Athletics.
