Guam - Guam Resource Recovery Partners is waiting for the Guam Environmental Protection Agency to begin the 45-day public comment period for the company's solid waste landfill permit for Atantano. GRRP's Dave Sablan tells KUAM News on December 30 then-EPA administrator Elisabeth Cruz advised the company that the agency intends to issue a draft operations permit.

While he anticipated a notice being published this week, Sablan says they're still waiting on the Guam EPA to do so, but administrator Ivan Quinata is currently off island. A public meeting has already been scheduled for March 17 at the Santa Rita Community Center. The company doesn't anticipate any major concerns that would stall the issuance of their permit and the first cell could be done within 6-9 months to compete with the landfill being constructed at Layon.
