Guam - Former first lady of Guam Joanne Camacho will now head operations at the Guam Visitors Bureau. Camacho will replace Ernie Galito as deputy general manager. It's a decision Galito says was made during GVB'd first board meeting of 2011.

Camacho's duties will include overseeing community programs and marketing.

Galito says he will assist Camacho in the transition and leaves the bureau with good news for the tourism industry, telling KUAM News, "Visitor arrivals look good for January; we should be expecting almost 19 charter flights during Chinese New Year, so they will be coming from Taiwan, Bejing and Shanghai."  Chinese New Year runs from the end of January to the first week of February.

Meanwhile, Galito says the village of Dededo is next to unveil a mural as part of the ongoing Island Beautification Project on a wall constructed across from the Dededo Flea Market. Officers of the GVB's board of directors were also elected during the meeting chairman of the board is Monte Mesa, vice chairman is Mark Baldyga, and Hope Cristobal will serve as secretary.
