CCU approves underground power project
Guam - Aside from approving a $5 million project to construct underground power lines along the Back Road to Andersen Air Force Base, the Consolidated Commission on Utilities also approved a resolution for the Guam Power Authority to hire a program management office that will provide professional and technical consulting to both GPA and the Guam Waterworks Authority for capital improvement projects required for the military buildup.
GPA spokesperson Art Perez said, "GPA and GWA has already issued so many millions of dollars in bonds depending on what happens with the agreement between Japan and the United States, and whatever money is going to come for the buildup to Guam we need help to facilitate these projects and the PMO allows us the flexibility to do that."
