Groundbreaking for new Naval Hospital Friday

Guam - Ground will be broken this Friday on the construction of a new naval hospital. Naval Facilities Engineering Command Marianas, the Naval Hospital and Navy Medicine West will host the ceremony on Friday. Watts Webcor Obayahashi of Hawaii was awarded a $158 million firm fixed price contract.
According to NAVFAC Engineering, work will be phased so that the existing hospital remains operational during the construction which is expected to be completed by 2014. Once completed and operational, the current facility will be demolished.
